ASA AZ1500 f6 telescope first light in Georgia

First Light in Georgia

ASA's Third AZ1500 Telescope Operational at E. Kharadze Georgian National Astrophysical Observatory

We are thrilled to announce the successful commissioning of our latest project, the 1.5-meter RC telescope, AZ1500, housed within a 13-meter split dome at the E. Kharadze Georgian National Astrophysical Observatory in Abastumani. This marks the third AZ1500 f6 telescope installed by ASA, further enhancing our commitment to advancing astronomical research and exploration.

The inaugural images captured by this remarkable telescope showcase breathtaking views of the spiral galaxies M101 and M51, as well as the globular clusters M71 and M92. These stunning celestial objects highlight the telescope’s exceptional capabilities and the exciting potential for future discoveries.

We extend our gratitude to the dedicated team at the observatory and our partners for their efforts in bringing this project to fruition. With this new addition, we look forward to contributing valuable data to the global astronomical community and inspiring the next generation of astronomers in Georgia and beyond.
